Paul Kim

Paul Kim was born in Vancouver and grew up in South Surrey. After graduating from UBC, Paul moved to Vancouver Island with his family in 2007, living in both Nanaimo and Victoria. Prior to joining Macdonald Commercial in 2023, Paul spent four years at a Victoria-based commercial brokerage, where he quickly became one of the top agents in the office. As a member of the Victoria Real Estate Board, Paul volunteered on the Government Relations and Professional Development Committees.

Paul specializes in the acquisition and disposition of apartment buildings, establishing land assemblies for development, and analyzing investment properties. He has closed multiple deals between institutional investors and developers/landlords. Paul helps bridge the gap between an institutional investor’s comprehensive due diligence procedures and a private landlord’s ability to provide the required information.

Outside of work, Paul shares his passion for golf with his three daughters. All three have represented Canada in international junior golf tournaments across North America, and his oldest daughter will be playing NCAA Division 1 Golf at a Pac-12 school in the fall of 2023. Paul is proud of his Korean heritage and is deeply grateful for the opportunities his parents provided by immigrating to Canada in 1974.

• Q2 2021 – Lead broker on the sale of a legacy portfolio of apartment buildings to a major institutional buyer. 537 suites in 11 buildings, one of the largest commercial real estate transactions in Victoria, BC history.
• Q1 2022 – Lead broker on the sale of a well-maintained apartment building in Victoria, BC. 49 suites on a 1.1-acre parcel, sold to a major Canadian REIT.
• Q2 2022 – Lead broker on the sale of two new purpose-built rental apartments totaling 94 suites in Courtenay, BC, sold to a major Canadian REIT.
• Q2 2022 – Lead broker on the sale of a new purpose-built rental apartment with 56 suites in Courtenay, BC, to a major Canadian REIT.
• Q3 2022 – Lead broker on the sale of two new purpose-built rental apartments totaling 120 suites in Nanaimo, BC, to a major institutional buyer.
• Transacted over $300 million worth of deals in the last two years, predominantly in apartment dispositions, acquisitions, and multifamily development land assemblies.
